Dr Isabelle Buckle, PhD, is armed with over 30 years of scientific commercial and business skills in biotechnology forged from an extensive and eclectic experience with such companies as Bruker Daltonics (Global Vice President Clinical Mass Spectrometry), CEO and Chairman at InGen Biosciences (an in vitro diagnostics French group), Life Technologies (now part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, as Global Head European Pharma’s Accounts) and at Ciphergen Biosystems Inc (as Regional Director, Head of Business Development Diagnostics), to name some of the posts occupied. At Institut Pasteur, Dr Buckle is the Executive Vice-President for Technology Transfer and Industrial Partnerships.

The Department of Research Applications and Industrial Relations (DARRI) mission is to promote translational research in order to increase the impact of fundamental research on public health issues.

The Institut Pasteur’s innovation strategy is based on the following principles: a transversal organization that covers the entire innovation process; an innovation accelerator that supports the most promising applications; optimized positioning of patents within strategic areas, and, intensified promotion of inventive activity in the institute.

The Institut Pasteur has been labeled as an Institut Carnot by the French government since the creation of the label in 2007. Isabelle has a BSc and Masters in Biochemistry followed by a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Paris VII for a thesis carried out at the Institut Pasteur.

In addition to her activities at the Institute Pasteur, Isabelle is a member of the Healthcare Businesswomen's Association (HBA), European chapter, and was president-elect 2012. HBA is an international organization that aims to develop and empower women, both professionally and on a personal level.
